Kônôkè Dankelen or "the Unique Bird-Man" celebrates a mythical ancestor who bore the title of Soumahoro (Priest-King) who is said to have freed slaves to make them free men. This is a nod to remind us that the concept "horonya" originally designated "freedom" and not "nobility".
